Tuscaloosa, Alabama was founded in 1819 on the banks of the Black Warrior River. Tuscaloosa means "Black Warrior" and was named by settlers after the Choctaw Chief named Tuskaloosa. Tuscaloosa established The University of Alabama, home to the Crimson Tide football team by 1831. From 1826 to 1846 the city served as the state capital before it was moved to the city of Montgomery. There is plenty of entertainment to be found within the city such as visiting the Alabama Museum of Natural History, enjoying the scenery on the Tuscaloosa RiverWalk, hitting your target at Civil Axe Throwing or grabbing some barbecue and brews at one of the many restaurants downtown.
