Pearland, Texas was founded in 1893 under the name "Mark Belt." The name was changed at the end of that same year to "Pearland" for the vast amount of pear trees in the city. Pearland is a fast-growing city in the greater Houston area offering great food, shopping, entertainment and recreational activities. Time enjoyed outdoors can be found at the Shadow Creek Ranch Nature Trail or at Independence Park.
