Galveston, Texas is an island city on the Gulf Coast. The city was named for Bernardo de Galvez, the man who ordered a survey for the land back in 1786. First settled around 1817 by a pirate named Jean Lafitte, Galveston was established as an important trading port and officially founded in 1838. Galveston Island has so many great attractions.
