Galveston, Texas is an island city on the Gulf Coast. The city was named for Bernardo de Galvez, the man who ordered a survey for the land back in 1786. First settled around 1817 by a pirate named Jean Lafitte, Galveston was established as an important trading port and officially founded in 1838. Galveston Island has so many great attractions. Moody Gardens offers an amazing experience! This 242 acre plot of land houses a hotel, water park, a 4D special FX theater, palm beach, zip line, rope and golf courses and so much more. There are also 3 giant pyramid attractions to visit in Moody Gardens, the Aquarium Pyramid, Rainforest Pyramid and the Discovery Pyramid. A few more hot spots for visitors are Schlitterbahn Waterpark, Bishop's Palace, Galveston Railroad Museum, Galveston Naval Museum, Galveston Island State Park and Galveston Historic Seaport. The Galveston Historic Pleasure Pier has many exciting rides overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, a few small shops, great places to eat and has an incredible view!
